Who we are

Silly Cousins is a property management application for co-owners of shared vacation homes, operated by Andrew Broadstone. You can reach us at [email protected].

What we collect

• Account information — your name and email address, used to create and identify your account.
• Property data — expenses, calendar events, contacts, vendor information, and notes that you and your co-owners enter into the app.
• Uploaded files — documents and receipts you upload, stored securely in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3.
• AI features — certain features use Anthropic's Claude API to process your requests. This may include property data, uploaded documents, or other content you provide, depending on the feature used.
• Usage data — basic server logs (IP address, timestamps, pages visited) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

How we use it

• To provide and operate the Silly Cousins application.
• To send transactional email notifications (expense alerts, calendar reminders, invitations) via Resend.
• To power AI features within the app using Anthropic's Claude API.
• To back up your data daily to protect against data loss.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Clerk — authentication and user account management.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure, file storage, and database backups. Data is stored in the US East region.
• Anthropic — AI language model used to power AI features within the app. Data sent may include property context, documents, or other content depending on the feature used.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data processed on our behalf.

Data retention

Your account and property data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you would like your data deleted, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it within 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Export your data in a portable format.

If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Files are stored in private S3 buckets with access controlled by AWS IAM. Secrets are managed in AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store and never stored in source code.

Children

Silly Cousins is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
